Caroline studied at the Corcoran Gallery School of Art in Washington DC under Brockie Stevenson (War Artist) and attended master classes at The Slade School of Art in London. She has been an en plein air painter most of her life, mostly in the Middle East. Now she takes commissions in egg tempera, oils and watercolours and also personalised medieval style illuminations on vellum.

Caroline’s work has been selected multiple times for Royal Academy Summer Exhibitions. “A lovely fresh piece of work” – Sir Antony Eyton RA said of her small oil in a Summer Exhibition.

In 2011 Caroline Lees won the Sunday Telegraph Watercolour Competition. David Paskett, president of the Royal Watercolour Society said of her prize winning entry in the Sunday Telegraph. “An unconventional and dynamic view of a familiar place at a particular time…”
Few years later, in 2018, she won the Agnes Reeve Memorial prize for best painting of London at the CAS Society (w/c).
