This charming sculpture is a study of the only species of dormouse native to Britain, the hazel dormouse. The name dormouse from the Anglo-Norman dormeus meaning ‘Sleepy (one)’, due to their long periods of hibernation. This sculpture is hot cast in solid bronze in Britain.

The sculpture is individually numbered and signed by the artist and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity which is your guarantee that the piece is a genuine Unique Bronze casting approved by the sculptor.

Description

Steve Langford was born in Worcester, and as a child he was very creative. He started work at the Royal Worcester Porcelain company as an artist straight from school and went on to work on many aspects of the ceramics trade including ornamental and useful casting. He has never been to art College and is self-taught. After many years with Royal Worcester Porcelain he left to join Country Artist as a sculptor. While there, he worked on many different projects but mainly wildlife sculptures and became known for his miniature work. His work has sold all over the world including America. He also did a lot of work for mail order companies who sold the pieces through the Sunday Supplements.

In 2014 Steve was commissioned to sculpt wildlife pieces for Unique Bronze Ltd.
