Ingrid Brown

Ingrid Brown is a figurative and plein-air painter who enjoys capturing quiet, everyday scenes and the beauty of the outdoors in light, mood and atmosphere.

A feature of her landscape and figurative works are their combination of a limited palette and simple, strong composition, creating mood, emotion and a quiet yet powerful presence.

Ingrid’s work has been exhibited in notable shows including the Hampstead Art Society, Gallery Holt Norfolk, Chelsea Art Society, ING Discerning Eye, several Federation of British Artists shows at the Mall Galleries, Art for Youth, the Society of Graphic Fine Art, the St Ives Society of Artists, Penwith Gallery and St Ives Arts Club. She won a portrait competition at the age of nine, received a Distinction for her Matriculation Painting Exhibition in 2000, and has an academic background in History of Art (BA, 1st Class) and Architectural History & Theory (MA) (2008-12).

Ingrid has recently written for The Artist magazine.

Artistic influences include Constable, Turner, Vuillard, Nicolai Fechin, Diebenkorn, František Kupka, the Impressionists and Scottish Colourists.

Ingrid has undertaken private and gallery commissions and her work is held in private collections in the UK, Europe, and the US.
